With summer in full swing, the Texas heat is at its peak. It is crucial to remember never to leave children unattended in a hot vehicle, even for a brief moment.

This can lead to pediatric vehicular heatstroke, resulting in permanent disability or death.

Cars can heat up rapidly. The temperature inside a vehicle can increase by 19 °F in just 10 minutes and continues to rise, regardless of cracked windows.

Tragically, five children across the nation have already lost their lives this year due to being left in hot vehicles.

If you see young children left alone in a vehicle for an extended period, especially in this heat and when the vehicle is not running, please contact the Waco Police Department immediately.

Louisville, KY – According to the state officials, the initial building site is located in the community of Talcum, in Knott County near the Perry County line.

The state initially secured 75 acres and can expand that to nearly 300 acres, which means the land not only provides a place to rebuild but is a place to grow for the future and attract new businesses.

This is the first of several locations in Eastern Kentucky that are being considered for rebuilding projects.

The state is currently evaluating multiple sites in four counties: Breathitt, Knott, Letcher and Perry.

These counties combined account for 75% of the homes lost to flood damage.

Initial concepts for the Knott County community include small, medium and large home lots, senior apartments, park and recreation space and an elementary school, all surrounded by wooded areas. The plan is also to provide the infrastructure in a way that benefits the entire region, including relief and assistance to the City of Hazard and Perry County.

According to the police officials, the young victim reportedly told his last words to an investigator in the hospital. The boy’s father reportedly awoke to his son’s screams and found his boy bleeding to death in his bed. The boy’s father immediately called 911 to report the incident and claimed to have found the boy’s estranged mother, Mary, unconscious in another room after suffering from a self-inflicted stab wound to her own chest. According to the police officials, the mom pulled through and her condition was stabilized. Before the incident, the mother was reportedly suffering from mental health problems and had allegedly been abusing her 11-year-old son Bruce.

There were reports from at least two incidents related to abuse between the mother and her son. The young boy reportedly died from multiple stab wounds. Per reports, Bruce managed to tell authorities who did it before he passed away and now his mom is going to jail for killing her son. Bruce was stabbed in his own bed at his father’s home but managed to alert authorities to his killer right before he died from the multiple stab wounds. When medics arrived at the scene, they rushed to help the pair of stab victims.

They arrived at the property around 1 am and brought both Mary and her son to a nearby hospital. However, the young stab victim died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:19 am that same morning. The mother pulled through and her condition was stabilized. But since her son managed to alert authorities to how she had stabbed him, she was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder after she was relocated to another hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office said: “He found his son in his room, lying on the bed suffering from stab wounds. He went to call 911 when he discovered Mary was also stabbed, but she was unconscious in another room. Mary suffered self-inflicted stab wounds to her chest. Bruce was conscious upon arriving at the hospital, where he spoke with the investigator, advising his mom, Mary, had stabbed him.” Before the murder, Mary had been separated from her son for about forty days. She was desperate to see her boy. The boy’s father allowed Mary to visit them while their divorce went through. That’s when the attack occurred.

State officials also awarded $3,983,600 to Henderson County Schools to improve the CTE unit at Henderson County High School. Students at the CTE unit engage in hands-on training to learn skills related to welding, childhood education, agriculture and more.

The funding will go toward creating a new administrative suite, renovating the restrooms, creating a new culinary arts area, renovating the greenhouse and replacing the HVAC system, among other general improvements.

They also awarded Webster County $319,356 in CDBG-CV funds to renovate and expand the current Webster County Senior Center in Dixon.

The renovation will expand the facility’s outdoor space to add a new outdoor entertainment center with a stage and room for socially distant seating, as well as an expanded deck area.

New freezer units will be installed in the kitchen to accommodate the demand for more prepared meals per day for seniors, which has increased over 400% since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic.

Louisville, KENTUCKY – According to the state officials, the installation of Depp’s statue marks the first large-scale Capitol monument to honor a Kentucky woman.

According to Gov. Beshear, the nearly 7-foot-tall bronze statue of Depp now stands in the vestibule of the West entrance to the State Capitol building.

It is adjacent to the hallway that displays the more than 60 portraits that comprise the Kentucky Women Remembered exhibit, which was installed in the West Wing of the Capitol in 1996.

Until now, the only other permanently installed marker in the Capitol honoring a woman is a plaque featuring the likeness of the late Thelma Stovall, who in 1975 was the first woman elected lieutenant governor of Kentucky.

The Depp statue is now situated outside the entrance to Lt. Gov. Coleman’s office.

The Depp statue was created by artist Amanda Matthews of Lexington, an internationally recognized, award-winning sculptor and designer of public art and CEO of Prometheus Foundry LLC.

This brave mother reportedly placed her baby daughter Grace on a paleo diet when she was born, and her typical meal is more likely to be organic chicken and a plate of vegetables and not a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the crust cut off. The diet bans grains and dairy, meat, fish, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. The diet seems extreme, but the mom maintained that Grace almost never gets sick and “loves” eating healthy foods.

For breakfast, the baby, now a young girl, typically has eggs fried in coconut oil with roasted veggies like sweet potato, carrots, potatoes, and steamed broccoli, a quarter of an avocado, and a small scoop of sauerkraut. Lunch consists of something like organic roasted chicken and roasted and steamed vegetables like broccoli. Grace snacks on fruit throughout the day, strawberries and bananas being her favorite. Her mother, Shan, who has an agricultural science degree and is the author of a healthy recipe e-book, stated that her daughter only had a cold once.

“She spends a lot of time around other kids who are sick all the time — who have snotty noses, coughs, colds — but she just doesn’t pick it up,” she told Daily Mail. “It’s certainly not because I’m shielding her from any of that stuff. I absolutely think a nutrient-dense diet is giving her a strong immune system.”

Despite the strict diet, Shan maintains that she’s laid back about her daughter eating sugary and grainy foods one day, especially with birthday parties on the horizon.

“(What she eats now) is not weird, not anything strange that normal people wouldn’t eat. She loves it. I don’t feed her toast or cereal or anything like that. Again I think, ‘Sure that stuff is not going to kill her.’ If she eats a piece of bread I’m not going to have a conniption,” she said.

“I don’t want there to be any disordered eating around food,” she added. “Females particularly have enough problems with eating disorders … I want Grace to eat what makes her feel good. That’s the reason I eat this way. I don’t think eating a piece of bread is going to kill me. When I go out to dinner with friends… I’m just going to eat what’s on the menu. I’m not going to be a jerk about it. She’ll also learn what makes her feel good and what doesn’t.” And yes, Grace is a young girl now and this is what she looks like now.

Unfortunately, the young girl reportedly faced years of medical issues requiring her to have countless tests, take strong drugs and even have life-changing operations. Her mother, who is now in prison, posted pictures of the child on social media. The photos often showed the little girl in a hospital bed. Per reports, the girl spent most of her childhood in hospital.

According to the Mirror, the 7-year-old girl, Olivia Gant, reportedly faced years of medical issues requiring her to have countless tests, take strong drugs and even have life-changing operations. Back in 2012, her mother, Kelly, took her daughter to a hospital where they lived in Colorado. She had recently moved from Texas with Olivia and her two sisters, but their dad had stayed there for work.  The little girl was suffering from severe constipation, so the doctors treated her by removing the hardened stool from her colon and she was sent home. Shortly after, the mother told doctors that her young daughter was not eating and struggled to digest her food properly. Her observation triggered a course of medical care that would change the little girl’s life.

During the next few years, the little girl reportedly made more than 1,000 hospital visits and had several surgical procedures. Her small intestine was reportedly rerouted through her large intestine, which took in food from a bag on her stomach, the Mirror reports. Olivia’s mom told the doctors that her daughter was having seizures. Despite no doctor witnessing it, the liitle girl was put on strong medication that put a strain on her little body. When her feeding tubes stopped working, Olivia was given an intravenous tube that fed nutrients directly into her veins. This left the child so weak ,she was often bedridden and had to be pushed around in a wheelchair. Olivia’s mother shared about her daughter’s “condition” on social media and through a blog. She even created a GoFundMe page and raised more than $22,000.

Olivia’s mom also said that the little girl was also dealing with conditions such as autism, developmental delays and fluid on the brain. In 2017, the mother told her supporters that there was no cure for Olivia’s health problems and she was now terminally ill. The mother even told the medical personnel that keeping her daughter alive was unfair because she had no quality of life. The mother even requested that her feeding tubes be removed, the Mirror reports. Unfortunately, the little girl passed away on August 20, 2017, and her cause of death was recorded as intestinal failure as a complication of her multiple medical conditions.

In 2018, Olivia’s mother reportedly told doctors that another of her daughters was suffering bone pain. She reportedly said that her daughter had previously had cancer and she feared it had returned. But, the health officials could find no records of a cancer diagnosis. Luckily, doctors concluded there was nothing wrong with the girl. This made them start to question Olivia’s health problems. Then, Olivia’s body was exhumed and an autopsy revealed there was no intestinal failure and she didn’t have any of the other illnesses that her mother had claimed. Her cause of death was undetermined.

During an interview with investigators, the mother reportedly mentioned Munchausen’s syndrome by proxy, which is a psychological disorder in which someone pretends their loved one, often a child, is ill so they can be the centre of attention. According to the police officials, the mother reportedly convinced doctors her daughter needed treatment and basked in the attention. She also wanted to profit from people’s generosity, officials said. According to the DA’s office, the mother made up fake illnesses and subjected her daughter to unnecessary hospital visits and surgical procedures to treat illnesses she’d never actually had. She also defrauded the Medicaid system of more than $538,000. In 2019, the mother was charged with murder, child abuse, theft and fraud. Back then, she pleaded not guilty. In 2022, weeks before her trial, she made a plea deal. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Olivia’s family also placed blame on the CHC, where Olivia was treated for five years, and it settled a private lawsuit for an undisclosed amount.

There’s no doubt that Princess Diana was loved by people across the globe. Turns out she also left a huge impression on the Queen herself. “Diana was the first person to rattle the cage of the monarchy within living memory,” revealed Queen’s biographer Ingrid Seward. “I don’t think Diana went out intentionally to change the family. She did it because that was the way she was.”

In the days following Diana’s death, Queen Elizabeth was heavily criticized for remaining silent. “It felt pretty perilous,” expressed Ed Perkins, the director of HBO’s new documentary The Princess. Then on September 5, the monarch finally addressed the nation as “your Queen” and “as a grandmother” in a rare televised speech.

While the Queen is known for her stoic and composed mannerisms, she seemed to realise that she needed to express her emotions on this occasion, following Princess Diana’s lead, according to PEOPLE

Diana changed the way the Royals functioned. She would actively be involved in her sons’ lives so much so that she even participated in a school run organized for mothers on sports day. One time she allowed her sons and their friends to bury her in the sand while playing at Thorpe Park. “She understood that there was a real life outside of palace walls,” said William in a documentary.

She did her best to make sure that her children has a normal life and during a 1991 ski trip to Lech, Austria, she insisted on going without any bodyguards so her family could relax and have some alone time. Diana never hesitated to show affection, sometimes disregarding the royal protocol on demonstrative behavior in the process.

She was once photographed throwing her arms open to greet her boys as they joined her on board Royal Yacht Britannia in Canada. “She would engulf you and squeeze you as tight as possible and being as short as I was then, there was no escape, you were there for as long as she wanted to hold you. Even talking about it now, I can feel the hugs she used to give us,” said Harry.

When asked why she thought she would never be queen, Diana told Martin Bashir, “Because I do things differently, because I don’t go by a rule book, because I lead from the heart, not the head… someone’s got to go out there and love people and show it.” On the contrary, Queen Elizabeth has rarely displayed any extreme emotions but in recent years she has displayed her ability to show emotions.

She participated in comedy skits like at the 2012 Olympics with Daniel Craig as James Bond and even shared the screen with Paddington Bear for her Platinum Jubilee earlier this summer, according to PEOPLE. “Who knows whether an event like that could have happened without someone like Diana coming in?” said Perkins. Meanwhile, Seward added, “The Queen can now see Diana’s legacy is a huge force for good.”

Campton, KY – According to the state officials, Governor Beshear also announced six projects totaling $3,681,827 in funding. The projects will benefit Breathitt, Lee, Magoffin and Wolfe counties.

Mountain Parkway Expansion
A project to widen 11 miles of the Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County is officially underway to support economic opportunities and safer, better connections in the region.

This project is part of the Mountain Parkway Expansion, a plan for widening and extending 46 miles of the parkway from Campton in Wolfe County to Prestonsburg in Floyd County. The Wolfe County segment stretches from mile point 45.8 near Campton to just west of Exit 57 near Helechawa and includes the reconstruction of two interchanges: Kentucky Highway 191/Campton (Exit 46) and Kentucky Highway 1010/Hazel Green (Exit 53). Since the Parkway Expansion project began in 2014, nearly 32 miles of parkway widening has been completed or is under construction.

Gov. Beshear is committed to building a better Kentucky through transportation to improve safety, spur the economy and improve the quality of life for Kentuckians. The $97.1 million Wolfe County project was kick-started when the Beshear administration secured a $55 million federal Infrastructure for Rebuilding America, or INFRA, grant in 2020. The project was let for construction six months ahead of schedule and awarded to Bizzack Construction. It is expected to be complete by 2027.

KYTC is developing plans for the final two segments of the Mountain Parkway Expansion Project between Salyersville and Prestonsburg. Final details are expected to be announced soon.

Louisville, KENTUCKY – According to the statement, the funding reportedly comes from the federal Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

To receive the funds, which are administered at the state level by the Department for Local Government, selected applicants must undergo federal review and receive approval from the National Park Service.

Gov. Beshear presented a $75,000 check to the City of Edgewood to improve a walking trail at Freedom Park. The project will refurbish an existing .43-mile walking trail with surfacing made from recycled tires.

The trail will be compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and provide a smoother and softer surface.

New access ramps will also be installed. Along the improved walking path are low-impact exercise stations that will be more accessible because of this project, state officials said.

The Governor also presented $45,625 to the city of Taylor Mill for a project to construct an amphitheater and multi-use pavilion at Pride Park. The new amphitheater will have a 20-by-40-foot stage and an accessible ramp.

The amphitheater will be at the base of a tiered hillside to allow easy viewing from multiple locations. The multi-use pavilion will allow for educational seminars and a farmer’s market.

Scott County, KY – According to the statement, Governor Beshear awarded more than $2 million for various projects in Scott County.

State officials said that the funding will go towards the extension of the Legacy Trail, the streetscape and viaduct project in Georgetown and construction of a splash pad in Veterans Park in Sadieville.

Gov. Beshear presented a ceremonial check for $1.6 million to the Scott County Fiscal Court from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC)’s Transportation Alternatives Program.

The award will help extend and upgrade the Legacy Trail.

The trail in Scott County will connect to the existing Legacy Trail within Fayette County, providing a safer alternate route into both counties for commuters and recreational users alike.

The trail will include a trailhead and park-and-ride lot located just short of the western end of Jodphur Lane where the road bends east, officials said.

The trailhead will include five parking places including one Americans with Disabilities Act accessible (ADA) space, available exclusively for Legacy Trail users. An additional 210 parking spaces, six of which will be ADA spaces, will be available within the park for visitors from dusk till dark.

Funding will also go toward additional amenities, which will include improved sidewalk accessibility, a restroom facility adjacent to the multiuse path, a bike rack and repair station, landscaping, a stone pylon with trail mile marker, a limestone wall and a seating area. The trailhead will serve as a park and ride facility for users of the trail.
