Louisville, KY – According to the police officials, in response to a recent surge in vehicle thefts and break-ins, LMPD has deployed its Air20 helicopter to aid in apprehending suspected thieves. The initiative aims to curb crimes of opportunity targeting vehicles left unlocked in neighborhoods.

“We have a powerful tool in our tool bag with our helicopter,” stated a spokesperson for the Louisville police department. “These thieves operate with a straightforward strategy: load up in a car, drive to a quiet neighborhood, and test door handles. It’s that simple.”

The department urged residents to secure their vehicles overnight and remove valuables to deter such crimes. Their efforts yielded results on June 12th when six individuals, including five adults and one juvenile, were apprehended. The announcement was made via the department’s social media channels, accompanied by footage captured by Air20 during the operation.

The video shows Air20 tracking a stolen Toyota Highlander occupied by eight suspected thieves in the far East End of Louisville. Despite reaching speeds of up to 110 MPH along Shelbyville Road, the vehicle was kept in sight as Air20 coordinated with ground units. The pursuit ended with suspects abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

“We will continue utilizing Air20 on a nightly basis to combat crime,” affirmed the spokesperson. “It’s hard to outrun a helicopter and a radio.”

The Louisville police department remains committed to leveraging Air20’s capabilities to enhance public safety and reduce criminal activity across the city.

Louisville, KY – According to the LMPD officials, the officer-involved shooting occurred right after 6 p.m. Monday evening.

The 911 caller told the dispatcher that they spotted multiple juvenile males illegally entenng a detached garage locatca on a vacant property with what was reported as a suspected stolen vehicle.

Officers respond to the 800 block of S. 38th Street. When they arrived on scene, they could hear subjects inside of the garage and had drawn their weapon due to multiple unknown threats.

As the officers waited for back up, the garage door opened, and multiple juveniles ran out of the garage. As one officer tried to detain the suspects, his service weapon discharged one bullet. The discharge is believed to have been unintentional.

One teen suspect was detained from the group that ran, but refused to answer any questions.

Neither the officers nor the individual detained were injured during the incident. During further examination of the scene, no evidence presented itself that would alert officers on scene that anyone had been injured.

About an hour later, Norton Children’s Hospital personnel informed our officers that a teenage male made his way by private means, where he was treated for what is believed to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

LMPD was then informed that another teenage male arrived at Norton’s Hospital Downtown with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Both teens gave multiple conflicting statements to investigators regarding how they were shot and denied being at the 800 block of S. 38th Street scene.

Over the next few hours, LMPD detectives began reviewing body worn camera footage and other evidence to ascertain how the juveniles were shot.

The officer was placed on administrative leave LMPD consulted with Kentucky State Police (KSP) and KSP instructed LMPD to conduct the investigation.

In a horrifying incident, a 4-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death with a broomstick by his 9-year-old sister. According to authorities, the fatal thrashing unfolded in a Mobile, Alabama home on February 3. In a statement, cops revealed that officers responded to a call “in reference to a medical emergency involving a child.”

When officers arrived at the home, they found a little boy “unresponsive inside the residence.” Emergency medics, who were also called in at the time, “pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.”

While investigating the circumstances surrounding his violent death, detectives learned that the child suffered signs of “long-term” abuse.

Subsequently, the children’s caregiver and aunt, 53-year-old Yolanda Coale was taken into custody for aggravated child abuse the following day. She remains in custody on a $150,000 bond.

According to WTVY, the 9-year-old sister of the deceased has also been charged with assault. Per reports, Coale allegedly told cops that she woke up that morning to the sounds of screams.

On investigating the matter, she found the 9-year-old beating her little brother with a broomstick. Per a complaint, the girl allegedly “did willfully torture, willfully abuse and cruelly beat” the little boy, reports PEOPLE. The identity of the siblings has not been made public by the police.
