Louisville, KY – According to the statement, these technical rescue operations are more complex than the typical incidents encountered daily by fire companies and require special certifications for personnel to safely and efficiently perform specific functions.

These functions often involve using specialized tools and skill sets to handle various emergencies.

To prepare the next generation of Structural Collapse Technicians, the Louisville Division of Fire conducted three Structural Collapse Rescue classes over the past few months. These classes were facilitated by instructors from Spec Rescue International.

Fire personnel trained in this discipline will respond to building collapses and other types of infrastructure collapses caused by natural disasters, catastrophic failures, or human causality.

Their expertise will be utilized not only in Louisville but also across the Commonwealth when other departments need assistance, such as during the deadly tornado in Mayfield that struck a candle factory in 2022.

More than 60 members of the Louisville Fire Department participated in the training, along with 15 members from the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire District.

With summer in full swing, the Texas heat is at its peak. It is crucial to remember never to leave children unattended in a hot vehicle, even for a brief moment.

This can lead to pediatric vehicular heatstroke, resulting in permanent disability or death.

Cars can heat up rapidly. The temperature inside a vehicle can increase by 19 °F in just 10 minutes and continues to rise, regardless of cracked windows.

Tragically, five children across the nation have already lost their lives this year due to being left in hot vehicles.

If you see young children left alone in a vehicle for an extended period, especially in this heat and when the vehicle is not running, please contact the Waco Police Department immediately.

Louisville, KY – According to the police officials, in response to a recent surge in vehicle thefts and break-ins, LMPD has deployed its Air20 helicopter to aid in apprehending suspected thieves. The initiative aims to curb crimes of opportunity targeting vehicles left unlocked in neighborhoods.

“We have a powerful tool in our tool bag with our helicopter,” stated a spokesperson for the Louisville police department. “These thieves operate with a straightforward strategy: load up in a car, drive to a quiet neighborhood, and test door handles. It’s that simple.”

The department urged residents to secure their vehicles overnight and remove valuables to deter such crimes. Their efforts yielded results on June 12th when six individuals, including five adults and one juvenile, were apprehended. The announcement was made via the department’s social media channels, accompanied by footage captured by Air20 during the operation.

The video shows Air20 tracking a stolen Toyota Highlander occupied by eight suspected thieves in the far East End of Louisville. Despite reaching speeds of up to 110 MPH along Shelbyville Road, the vehicle was kept in sight as Air20 coordinated with ground units. The pursuit ended with suspects abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

“We will continue utilizing Air20 on a nightly basis to combat crime,” affirmed the spokesperson. “It’s hard to outrun a helicopter and a radio.”

The Louisville police department remains committed to leveraging Air20’s capabilities to enhance public safety and reduce criminal activity across the city.

Louisville, KY – According to the police officials, these individuals have been linked to a string of car thefts that have caused significant distress among residents.

Vehicle theft impacts not only property loss but also disrupts our sense of security and safety, and it can be connected to more serious violent crimes.

We are grateful for the dedication of our LMPD officers and detectives in bringing these alleged suspects to justice and helping to make our community safer.

LMPD has recovered stolen vehicles and several stolen firearms.

A juvenile arrested in relation to these crimes is not pictured.

These arrests (SEE PHOTO) resulted from the hard work of LMPD’s Criminal Interdiction Division, K-9, SWAT, Air Unit, officers from all 8 Patrol Divisions, Technical Operations, KSP Air Unit, and law enforcement agencies from Middletown, Oldham, Spencer, and Bullitt Counties.
