Man arrested on multiple charges after leading deputies on high speed chase

Nelson County, KY – Nelson County Sheriff’s deputy saw a stolen vehicle driving on New Shepherdsville Road. 

The deputy attempted to stop the Buick Century, but the 27-year-old driver, who was later identified as David Johnson, refused to stop and started to accelerated.

Johnson was driving 130 mph in a 55 mph zone.

He then drove into opposing lanes pf traffic several times and ran multiple vehicles off the road.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, the high speed chase ended when the 27-year-old driver lost control while coming around a curve on Cedar Grove Road.

The stolen vehicle flipped several times before ending up upside-down in a ditch.

The suspect then crawled out of the passenger side of the car and told authorities that his girlfriend had been injured.

The suspect’s girlfriend suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The 27-year-old man is now charged with speeding, fleeing or evading police, receipt of stolen property, first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, first-degree assault and failure to or improper signal.
